Circuits under development in IESL selected for Ariane 6 maiden flight
SIDLOC, the European space agency funded project aiming at developing identification and localization hardware for all man made objects going to space, is one of four experiments that were approved to fly onboard the inaugural flight of Ariane 6 later this year.
Optical Schrödinger “cat” states in intense laser-matter interactions
In a theoretical and experimental study published in Nature Physics, an international team of researchers  (from ICFO/ICREA-Spain, Technion-China, MBI-Germany, ELI-ALPS-Hungary, UoC and FORTH-Greece) led by Prof. Maciej Lewenstein (ICFO -Spain) and Dr. Paraskevas Tzallas (FORTH-Greece), demonstrates the generation of highly non-classical states of light in intense laser–atom interactions.
NANOPOLY receives "Key innovator" award by European innovation radar
The European project NANOPOLY (FETOPEN 2019 – 2022) conducted in the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL), part of the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH) has been a
Magnetic Nanocrystals for Advanced Therapeutics
Minute crystals, many thousand times smaller than a particle of dust, dressed with the right kind of imperfections, adjust their electronic properties to convert energy into heat, an important attribute for potential use in smart materials for energy, health and sensors.
