We are seeking an experienced, highly skilled, and motivated individual to join our team to support Information System Management. The candidate will participate in the R&D activities of FORTH-IESL primarily in the context of PERCEIVE project “Perceptive Enhanced Realities of Colored collEctions through artificial Intelligence and Virtual Experiences” funded under HORIZON-CL2-2021-HERITAGE-01-04 and will work on the creation and management of information systems, including databases, data models with semantic representation, data workflows, and user interfaces. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in information systems, technologies and open-source software tools for creating and maintaining federated data repositories, integrating data of multisource content including text, image, and spectral data, data management based on FAIR principles, data security and privacy, licensing management.

Role and Responsibilities
Responsibly carrying out activities primarily related to the PERCEIVE collaborative research project. Namely:
- Architecture design and implementation of a federated knowledge base repository.
- Creation of scalable information systems, including databases, data models aligned to semantic models, and data workflows, supporting data security and privacy and licensing management, to meet the needs of data management beyond the framework of a research project.
- Optimisation of data workflows in the entire data life cycle from capturing, processing, analyzing (including semantics), interlinking data to assure the quality of services.
Required Qualifications
- M.Sc. in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proven experience (minimum of 5 years) in information systems development and management, with a focus on databases, data modeling, and user interfaces.
- Technical skills:
- Proficiency in database administration and data management systems (proven skills in programming languages Python, Javascript, Java, SQL, C++).
- Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques and semantic representation frameworks.
- Familiarity with data workflow management and automation tools.
- Experience with user interface design and development.
- Understanding of software licensing and compliance management.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze complex data management challenges, identify solutions, and implement effective strategies.
- Communication and collaboration: Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with interdisciplinary, international and cross-functional teams, gather requirements, and present solutions.
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in English

12 monthsMaria Roumpou is an archaeologist specialized in archaeological science and the implementation of analytical methods in the study of archaeological material, focusing on residue analysis. She holds a PhD in Scientific Methods in Archaeology from the University of Bradford. Her research interests include Aegean archaeology, application of scientific methods in archaeology, archaeological chemistry and molecular analysis in archaeological material. She has participated in a range of projects studying archaeological ceramics as a specialist in organic residue analysis (Mycenae, Thessaloniki Toumba, Drakaina Cave – Kephalonia, Akrotiri – Thera, Ayia Sotira – Nemea, Thebes, etc.), as well as a co-director of the Northern Greek Storage Project with Dr. Despina Margomenou. Maria has developed a long standing collaboration as a Research Associate at the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition, Harokopio University in Athens.
