Sotiria (Iro) Kogou studied Physics at the Physics Department of the University of Crete (B.Sc.) and received her B.Sc. in 2010. She joined IESL-FORTH to pursue her undergraduate thesis under the title “The role of the substrate in the laser cleaning process; a study on the laser-assisted removal of polymeric consolidation materials from various substrates” under the supervision of Prof. C. Fotakis and Dr. P.Pouli.
In 2013 she received a scholarship to pursue PhD studies at the Department of Physics and Mathematics, School of Science & Technology, Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham, and in 2018 she received her PhD title for her research related to the “Investigation of the complementary use of non-invasive techniques for the holistic analysis of paintings and automatic analysis of large-scale spectral imaging data” with supervisor prof. Haida Liang.
Since 2018 is an active member in Haida Liang’s research group “Imaging & Sensing for Archaeology, Art History & Conservation (ISAAC)”
