Job 1

Study of the mechanical properties, microstructure and ionic conductivity of composite systems consisting of colloidal suspensions or gels with composite electrolytes of low molecular weight doped liquid poly(ethylene glycol). Experiments will include combined rheo-imaging, scattering and conductivity measurements.

Job 2

Use of shear and flow history protocols to control and tune the microstructure and macroscopic properties of thixotropic, metastable colloidal gels. Interplay between thermodynamic phase equilibrium and metastability will be explored. Experiments will include combined rheo-imaging and scattering.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering 
• Background in Experimental Soft Matter science 
• Good knowledge of English

Desirable Qualifications

Programming skills (preferably Python, or Matlab or C++) (20%)

Position Description

The MSc student will work in the framework of WorkPackage 2 on the synthesis and the physicochemical characterization of graphitic nanomaterials, that will be used in aqueous polymer formulations and in the framework of WorkPackage 4 with the development and characterization of the formulations. Moreover, he / she will investigate the surface properties of metal and/or polymer surfaces coated with the specific formulations (WorkPackage 3).

Quantum Key Distribution and Physical Unclonable Functions.

In the framework of HellasQCI, the candidate is expected to work in aspects of quantum cryptography, focusing mainly on quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols, and physical unclonable functions. The candidate will have the opportunity to interact with QKD devices, to participate in the implementation of the local HellasQCI network, as well as in the demonstration of certain use cases of QKD. Finally, he/she will be involved in training activities.
