Job 1 (master student)

The successful applicant will be working as a research student, designing and testing fiber optical bread boards for space applications.

Job 2 (research assistant)

The successful applicant will be working as a research assistant, designing and testing fiber optical bread boards for space applications. The work will involve the use of professional electronic programs (Zemax) for the design of optical systems. An analysis of the dependence of the signal on various optical parameters will be performed. The resulting optics will be tested and implemented in the laboratory. They will then be incorporated on the existing experimental facility. Finally, the results will be analyzed and the breadboard further optimized.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in design and implementation of fiber - optical systems (20%)
• Experience in diode lasers (15%)
• Experience in optical measurements (15%)
• Excellent knowledge of the English language (5%)

Desirable Qualifications

• Programming skills for data acquisition will be beneficial, esp. LabView (25%)
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment (20%)
• Experience in computing (Python and C) (10%)

Required Qualifications

• Πτυχίο στις Φυσικές Επιστήμες (Φυσική, Χημεία, Επιστήμη Υλικών), Επιστήμες Μηχανικού, Επιστήμης Συντήρησης
• Μεταπτυχιακό Δίπλωμα Ειδίκευσης (MSc) από Ανώτατο Εκπαιδευτικό Ίδρυμα της ημεδαπής ή αλλοδαπής συναφές με το αντικείμενο της θέσης
• Εμπειρία στη διαγνωστική μελέτη ή συντήρηση αρχαιολογικών, ιστορικών, μουσειακών αντικειμένων ή/και μνημείων
• Επιστημονικές Δημοσιεύσεις και παρουσιάσεις σε συνέδρια
• Άριστη γνώση Αγγλικής γλώσσας

The Ph.D. candidate awarded this Stavros Niarchos Foundation – FORTH fellowship is expected to perform high quality research within one of the research areas, in which FORTH-IESL excels both on the national and the international level (http://www.iesl.forth.gr/). More specifically, the domains of interest in the present project are the preservation of cultural heritage and the science and innovation in the areas of environment, clean energy and health.

• According to international practice, the academic age will be taken into consideration as a selection criterion.  The fellows should have started/or be about to start their Ph.D. studies but should not have completed their 3^rd year. Preference will also be given to Ph.D. candidates, who are under 30 years old.

Μελέτη της αλληλεπίδρασης βιοϋλικών-κυττάρων

Required Qualifications

• Διδακτορικό δίπλωμα στη Βιολογία ή εμβιομηχανική από Πανεπιστήμιο της ημεδαπής ή αλλοδαπής
• Εργαστηριακή εμπειρία σε: κυτταροκαλλιέργειες, βιοχημικές τεχνικές (ELISA, PrestoBlue, BrdU, MTT, ηλεκτροφόρηση πρωτεϊνών, western blotting, μελέτη ενδοκυτταρικών μονοπατιών μεταγωγής σήματος), μοριακές τεχνικές
• Ερευνητική εμπειρία στη μελέτη της αλληλεπίδρασης βιοϋλικών-κυττάρων (απομόνωση RNA, PCR και RT-PCR) και χειρισμό πειραματόζωων (ποντίκια)  
• Ερευνητική εμπειρία σε μελέτες ρύθμισης της ανοσολογικής απόκρισης σε βιοϋλικά

Ο υποψήφιος διδάκτορας θα ασχοληθεί με τη διερεύνηση των μηχανισμών ηλεκτρομαγνητικής θωράκισης και της εξάρτησης της από χαρακτηριστικά του υλικού και της ακτινοβολίας.

Θα πραγματοποιηθούν θεωρητικοί υπολογισμοί που θα αφορούν τη διάδοση ηλεκτρομαγνητικής ακτινοβολίας καθώς και πειραματική επιβεβαίωσή τους προκειμένου να διερευνηθεί η λειτουργικότητα των νανοσύνθετων πολυμερικών υλικών του προγράμματος.
