The challenge is not simply to “recycle more plastic,” but to transform the agricultural plastic value chain from a predominantly linear model into a territorial, traceable, and economically viable circular system. In the Brazilian context, this complexity stems not only from the vast territory, crop diversity, and varied plastic applications but also from the differing levels of maturity across the agricultural value chain, as well as the diverse stakeholders and consumers involved. With the theme “Accelerating agricultural plastic circularity,” we aim to move beyond a purely environmental perspective and demonstrate that circularity relies simultaneously on product design, management, logistics, technology, markets, public policy, and governance. The core message is that agricultural plastic circularity should be a property of the system, not merely a property of the material itself.
