Laser-assisted development of composite thermochromic materials for energy smart and safe buildings

This project is focused on the fabrication of novel composite thermochromic glasses for energy smart and safe buildings. In particular, novel fabrication protocols for the incorporation of advanced thermochromic coatings within transparent glasses will be developed, by means of laser processing techniques and post-melting encapsulation procedures. Meanwhile, our partner Ergoprolipsis will perform a complete evaluation of the energy scavenging and environmental benefits upon exploitation of the proposed composite glass prototypes in large buildings of the Region of Crete.
