Challenges towards innovation in nanoscience and technology

In this talk I will present an overview of the research carried out at our center. There are three main research lines: Energy, Printed Electronics and Bio-materials.

Energy regards low power (<1kW) portable energy sources for functional integration in robotics, buildings, cloth and tissue, consumer electronics. The activity is based on third generation solar cell materials, such as hybrid organic PV and perovskites. The most advance technology transfer initiative regards R2R printing of OPV. Hydrogen production is considered at nanostructured sensitized electrodes. Printed electronics regards realization of transistors and logic circuits, RFID and photodiodes. Research in bio materials comprises protein structure and bio-imaging. Optically active interfaces are studied in vitro, using HEK293 cells or primary neurons. A large effort is undertaken to develop an artificial retina implant, that is a present tested on laboratories animals.
