CONFERENCE LOCATION

ECAMP 9 will take place at the Conference hotel of Creta Maris in the resort town of Hersonissos, close to Heraklion, the main city of the Greek Island of Crete. Crete was the center of the Minoan civilization, which flourished at about 2000 B.C. There are many archaeological sites throughout the island, the most well known being the palace of Knossos.

How to reach Heraklion

Heraklion is directly connected to Athens International Airport with about 10 domestic flights daily run by Olympic Airways and Aegean Airlines. There are also direct scheduled airline connections with major European cities as well as many charter flights from most European countries.
Alternatively, one can use the ferry-boat connecting Heraklion with the harbour of Piraeus (Athens). Connection is offered by Minoan Lines or ANEK Lines and the overnight trip takes about 7 hours.

How to reach Hersonissos and the Conference Hotel

• A taxi hired at the Heraklion airport or port will take you to Hersonissos for about 30 Euros, depending on the number of pieces of luggage.
• Public transportation by bus is also available at the airport as well as the port for a fee of 2,50 Euros.
• Conference shuttles will depart from Heraklion Airport on May 6, 2007 and from the Hotel on May 11 and May 12, 2007
• A taxi can also be reserved through the Agency, at the cost of 40.50 Euros.
